Notes: The 1700 acre property is a prime sheltered site with red clay, quartz and sandy loam soils and a cool continental climate destined to produce premium quality, internationally acclaimed wines.
There are now 300 acres under vine.
The company's fundamental philosophy is to produce distinctive, well-balanced premium varietal wines with a recognisable regional and estate style, an approach fostered by the chief executive, Peter Steer, and a skilled winemaking team led by Leigh Clarnette, Senior Winemaker and including Loic Le Calvez, Oenologist and Mark Laurence, winemaker post-production.
Taltarni's reputation was originally founded on impressive, robust red wines. Time, evolving winemaking techniques and changing consumer demands have seen these wines evolve to become appealing, individualistic contemporary styles, crafted to be approachable when young, while retaining a structure and balance that rewards cellaring.
Directions: Located 225km northwest of Melbourne. Travel through Avoca on Sunraysia Hwy. Turn left at Moonambel signpost. Vineyard is 2nd turn on right after Moonambel township.
